Why It Was Recalled

The supplements may be contaminated with Salmonella due to an ingredient supplied to Fi’s manufacturer. The manufacturer has suspended production while it investigates the source of the contamination.

Salmonella can affect the animals eating the product, and there is a risk to humans who handle the supplement, touch contaminated surfaces, or handle the waste of a dog that has eaten it. That risk is higher if hands are not washed thoroughly after contact.

Dogs with a Salmonella infection may be lethargic, vomit, run a fever, or have diarrhea, including bloody diarrhea. Some dogs show only a decreased appetite and abdominal pain. An infected dog can appear healthy and still be a carrier, passing the bacteria to other animals or to people. In people, Salmonella infection can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever.

What You Should Do

• Stop using the supplement immediately. Do not finish the container and do not give it to your dog.
• Check the lot number and UPC against the table above. If they match, the product is part of the recall.
• Seal the container tightly and dispose of it in the trash. Do not pour it down a drain or into a yard where pets or wildlife can reach it.
• Wash your hands thoroughly after handling the product or anything it touched, including bowls and storage surfaces.
• Watch your dog for symptoms. If your dog has eaten the recalled product and shows lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, or loss of appetite, contact your veterinarian right away.
